'Birdman' and 'Apes' Lead MPSE Nods

On the eve of Oscar morning, the Motion Picture Sound Editors announced their nominees for the year's best achievements in sound design and editing. Birdman and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes lead all contenders with three nods apiece, and both are fine honourees for their excellent sound jobs (although I may be more impressed with Birdman's overall mix than with the editorial).
The most Oscar-indicative category is Best Sound Effects/Foley, which also features Oscar hopefuls Unbroken, Interstellar, Fury, and American Sniper, joined by a pair of Marvel blockbusters in Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Best Sound Effects/Foley
American Sniper
Birdman
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Fury
Guardians of the Galaxy
Interstellar
Unbroken
I expect the Oscar five will be a permutation of these eight, but which three drop out? Despite its impressive showing here, I'm just not sure the Apes franchise is embraced as warmly by the Academy as it aught to be. I also don't expect either of the Marvel efforts, but I could certainly be wrong. Fury deserves to be the winner, but Best Picture clout may aid American Sniper in this race.

Best Dialogue/ADR
Birdman
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Imitation Game
Still Alice
Theory of Everything
Unbroken
Whiplash
I'd give it to Apes, since so many of the ape characters had to have dubbing work done in post-production.

Best Music Editing, Non-Musical
Birdman
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
The Fault in Our Stars
Gone Girl
Guardians of the Galaxy
Interstellar
Selma
Gotta root for Gone Girl on this one, but I suspect Birdman will take it, and not undeservedly so.

Best Music Editing, Musical
Annie
Get On Up
Into the Woods
Jersey Boys
Whiplash
If anything besides Whiplash takes this I'm gonna hurl a chair at someone's head.

Best Sound Effects, Foley, and ADR in Feature Animation
Big Hero 6
The Book of Life
The Boxtrolls
How to Train Your Dragon 2
The LEGO Movie
Dragons 2 should win this one flying away, but The LEGO Movie will probably ride a momentum wave.

Best Sound Effects, Foley, and ADR in a Feature Documentary
America: Imagine the World Without Her
Citizenfour
Deep Sea Challenge 3D
Glen Campbell... I'll Be Me
Jodorowsky's Dune
Under the Electric Sky
Warsaw Uprising
I have no earthly idea... maybe the music of Glen Campbell will impress?

Best Sound Effects, Foley, and ADR in a Foreign Feature
Human Capital
The Liberator
The Raid 2
Roar
Uzumasa Limelight
The Raid 2, I guess.
