Snubs are few as the doc race narrows to 15

The Academy's shortlist for Best Documentary Feature has landed, and there are fewer shocking omissions this year than we normally get from this announcement. The most notable absence might be festival sensation Red Army, although 20,000 Days from Earth had its critical champions.

Of the fifteen that did make it, four of them have been chalked up for the International Documentary Association's top prize (Citizenfour, Tales from the Grim Sleeper, Finding Vivian Maier, and The Salt of the Earth), and another two were nominated by the Producers Guild of America just yesterday (Life Itself and Virguna).

See the full list after the cut.
